The department of electronics and communication engineering was established in the year 1984. The department has well equipped laboratories for analog and digital electronics, analog, digital and data communication, microcontroller, electronic system design, embedded system and equipments are being added to this laboratory every year. Polytechnic has converted the regular diploma into CO-OP scheme of diploma in 1994, to cater to the needs of the industry. The students are being deputed to undergo training in M/s Bharath Electronics, Bengaluru, M/s Bharath Heavy Electricals Ltd., Bengaluru, M/s ATandS India Pvt. Ltd., Nanjangud and M/s Kaynes Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Mysore. Students will be exposed to most modern equipments used in assembling, testing and maintenance. Students acquire knowledge in the area of defense equipments (communication), solar panels (PV cells manufacturing and assembling) and control equipments, assembling and soldering of components through modern techniques. In addition to on-the–job training in industries, technical talks are being arranged by the experts to provide more knowledge about the recent trends in the technology. we encourage students to participate in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities to improve their skills. Also, they are given training in soft skills and life skills for overall development. Department has modernized its computer center, electronic service center and design labs (PLC, VHDL, Microcontroller) with assistance from AICTE, New Delhi under MODROBS scheme at the cost of Rs. 25 Lakhs
